We just refinished our hardwood floors throughout our house and they are beautiful. i've noticed that our little 20 pound cockapoo has already started leaving a few scratches on them. What's the best from preventing this. I've read that if you keep their toenails cut regularly that they will actually recess enough to wear they are only walking on the pads. we keep his cut but he still clicks when he walks, what can i do?

We just brought home our 7 week old puppy. He was the first to go from the litter. I am a stay at home mom of a very quick 16 month old, so I think crate training is the best way to go to housebreak the puppy, but he hates his crate, or anytime you walk away from him. He is so loud. I took him out probably about 6 or seven times today in a pattern which I would like to keep as a schedual, praised him when he went potty, played with him outside for about half and hour each time, and brought him back inside to his crate. Oh the noise! I have the worst headache, and I'm afraid my daughter will wake up when we go to bed. His crate is in the family room, he is never left totally alone for more then an hour. Is there something else we can do? How long will this last?

until it was medication time and then I realized where it was (so shoot me, I had my 2 children home, one of which had 2 doctor's appts and I had a drywall guy over to fix the hole in the ceiling from the a/c guys who put their foot through it - I'm not just an insensitive, uncaring boob - I love my cat).

The meds are Clavamox drops and Prazosin (he has a spastic bladder right now, possibly from some strange cystitis that doesn't appear to produce bacteria).

Anyway, I gave him the doses tonight without even thinking about refrigeration and only after I gave them to him did I see they needed refrigeration. DOH! What do I do? Will it make him sick or just reduce the efficacy of the drugs? Thanks so much.

Recently at the barn where I board my horses at a horse was turned out in the pasture and he died supposedly by rough housing and breaking his neck. The farrier got done with the horse he was shoeing and put it back in the same pasture as the dead horse. The farrier saw that the horse was dead and ran for help. There is physical evidence that it appears that the horse snapped his neck. The barn owner thinks he was rough housing with another horse and he fell down and snapped his neck. Has anybody heard of this happening before? I think it is really odd.

Hi, I came home today to find that my cat had peed on my bed. I had just replaced this mattress less than 3 months ago and really dont want to have to buy a new one. Does anyone know anyway to get the smell out? I tried cleaning it with a carpet shampooer but dont think that is going to get the smell out. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance!

My vet has told me that my horse has pithiosis in his back leg. Has anybody dealt with this with their own horses? I am concerned that my horse might not recover, even though he is in otherwise good health. He's a 12 year old Morgan/Quarter Horse gelding.

I've got an 8 month old purebred beagle puppy who completely destroys any of the toys/treats we give him to chew on. Rawhide strips last 10 minutes, a compressed rawhide bone lasts 2 days. Rubber toys last between 1 and 5 days.

Naturally, I'd like to find something other than rawhide, (because of the inherent choking risk), but it seems to be the most effective thing yet.

Any suggestions?
