The common procedure that's been done for hundreds of years is to take a small piece of lead and insert it into the horse's head at a very high velocity. The pain will end almost instantly.

I don't mean to sound mean but as a responsible horse owner it is up to you to do everything in your powers to stop a horse from suffering. I can tell you this much...If a horse is showing pain, it is in a lot of pain, more than you realize. also, if there isn't a vet for miles, and you live out in the middle of no where, shooting him SHOULD! be an option. Again, I really don't want to sound cruel but to me ...there's nothing worse than suffering horse. It wasn't that long ago where I had to put down a horse and it's hard but watching him thrash back and forth on the ground suffering was harder. other than your vet, where ever he is, he can give you what you need if you want to go get the injections or have him or her come out and do it for you. Not too many other chooses. SORRY :(

You need to call your vet. That is the only humane way of putting the horse out of its misery. Is by euthanasia by injection. If you dont have a number for your vet, call information (411) and ask for one. For now, you should help the horse into a more comfortable position. You didnt mention what this horse was dying from, so I cant go any further. But I hope you make the right choice and this horse is helped soon.

We went through this with my daughters horse and other than shooting it or calling a vet there isn't a lot that you can do. If you have a farrier close by they have sedatives they can give the horse to help relax it but only a vet can give medications to kill it. I know it seems cruel to shoot it but honestly it is the quickest most humane thing to do if you can't get a vet out but first call the closest vet to you they do make house calls. Other than that all you can do is keep it warm and as comfortable as possible.

You need to call a vet out, she has to be put down. I know this will be hard for her, I have a horse of my own but it's really the best way, don't shoot her because she may not die straight away then she'd be in more pain.

If you have some Butte, or something like that give it to the horse to help ease the pain, or get some calm ease and give it that, it will help it to relax, and call the vet, they will even come out to the middle of no where... it is their jobs as a large animal vet to come to the farm or ranch

I am very sorry that you have to go through this :( A vet is your best option. They can use a mixture of anesthetics to put the horse to sleep. Any other way will be traumatic for the horse and you.

If you dont shoot the horse of call the vet asap, you may get into trouble from the humane society for causing un needed pain and suffering.
Sorry, but that is the way it is. And I do feel your pain. Please do the right thing for the poor animal. His pain will frighten him and make it worse.

Just call the vet that is closet to you, they will probably be willing to come and euthanize your horse for you. Vets are very sympathetic and they usually make every attempt to end the suffering of a dieing animal.

Is the horse in pain now?....If it is then I would do what some of the others have said... I know it`s hard to think like that, but if it`s suffering thats a bad thing to see and hard on the horse. If it`s not in any pain, just be there with it....I`m so sorry for your pain, I hope its fast and painless.
