A lot of people seem to be suggesting and even actively promoting declawing. If you're considering it, PLEASE look into what it actually involves before making that decision.
It isn't just a case of pulling the claws out - which would be painful and distressing enough. A cat's claw is closely adhered to the bone, and to remove the claw, the last joint in your cat's toes also has to be removed - it's basically an amputation of the end of each toe.

It's very painful surgery (ever had orthopaedic surgery?) and has a long painful recovery period.

If you've been considering it, PLEASE (I beg you!) pay a visit to these pages:

http://www.declawing.com/

http://www.declawing.com/htmls/declawing.htm

Then look into those big pussycat eyes and think long and hard before you put the little love through this.

Thanks xx

I've had this Beta for 2 wks he's been doing fine since I got him.
But when I had him in the little jar by himself I had to change the water almost everyday,(because it stayed cloudy (not from overfeeding) (and put in new conditioner), Earlier this week I bought a 10 gallon tank with 2 sucker fish.
I put in the water conditioner when I set the tank up..
The water is still cloudy and it looks as tho the beta has Fuzz (like cotton) starting to grow on him.
I done some research, and it says it takes almost 1 month for the tank to get right..
I've had tanks before and NEVER had this problem.
Also,
The Beta before this one, started to grow fuzz on him and died pretty quick, I saw him swimming that morining and by that afternoon found him at the bottom of the tank dead, he looked like a cotton ball.
Another note...The 1st Beta I never saw eat.
and I did NOT get them from the same place.

I have a four month old ferret, she has a slight cough. It kinda sounds like shes trying to cough up a hair ball, do ferrets even get hairballs? I know if she keeps it up shes going to the vet any way.

I'm allergic to fur, but if the animal doesn't shed, that's okay. I already have a fish, so please don't recommend that. I can't get turtles because I'm afraid of them, no birds, I wouldn't be able to put up with the noise.

He tryed to take away her bone and it may have been an accident, what should I do to teach the dog that biting is wrong no matter what?

She's never done this before.

My dog has been in kennels for 6 weeks, due to a delayed housing chain, and him not being able to come with us. I've only visited twice, because I found it too distressing, and I felt it was unfair on him too. I'm getting him out next weekend, and I just wanted to know whether he's actually even likely to remember who I am? Or will he have a new knowledge of me as someone that came to walk him whilst he was in kennels? When I've arrived at kennels, he seems more excited to see me than the other dogs, but I'm still not convinced that he actually associates me with the person who has brought him up from six weeks old :(

My pup 7 months old now licks EVERYTHING, constantly. Doors, mirrors, walls, chairs, me. Really... I know there is that bitter apple stuff that my trainer told me about. It's not a huge deal, but I'm just wondering if anyone else's dog does this!!!

See another wee bairn has been attacked by dogs (this time by two Staffordshire bull terriers) - looks like dogs have been promoted to 'sexy story' grade of late in the media of late, but their supposed concern (just as it did in the original 'rottweilers are vicious' prose many years ago) might just make such breeds more attractive to people - again - who will yearn to stalk around council estates or elsewhere with a couple of the beasts on a lead.
How about the owners getting a fair few paragraphs when such incidents happen...and see what sort of defence they offer.

I got her last Sunday and it has been 5 days and she won't eat. I changed the water last night again too. She is in a seperated tank with another betta I have (male) and he is eating like a pig. I'm worried about her now.

She does swim around and she has no visible signs of sickness (ick, velvet).

I'm feeding her what the store fed her (Betta Bio-Gold), which is also what my male betta loves.

Do you think its right that...

When a humane eats an animal its ok...

But when an animal eats a humane it gets killed or put in cages?

I dont think its fair we murder over 1000000 chickens a year but a tiger or somthing can only have 1 or 2 humanes then most likley gets killed for that... :(

Its sad.
