I got her last Sunday and it has been 5 days and she won't eat. I changed the water last night again too. She is in a seperated tank with another betta I have (male) and he is eating like a pig. I'm worried about her now.

She does swim around and she has no visible signs of sickness (ick, velvet).

I'm feeding her what the store fed her (Betta Bio-Gold), which is also what my male betta loves.

They have a screen between them, so she doesn't see the male and she gets her food. It is a divider tank.

I have had my beta for more than 8-9 months and she's always eaten tetramin tropical granules - the rich mix. And when we kill a mosquito we smoosh him in there and he loves them, i bet it's like real meat to them.

Bettas are very sensitive and she could be in shock. Put the female in a seperate tank. Make sure you use all the appropriate water additives. Use only aged water - the longer the better. I generally let tap water age 48 hours. To that I add Prime, Coppersafe, aquarium salt and something to bring the pH to desirable levels.

Do not let her go without food any longer! Bettas can hold out for a few days but I wouldn't push it any longer than necessary. If she doesn't eat the BioGold within a few minutes (after she's in her own tank), try something else - I recommend Hikari Krill. You can find it in any reputable pet store. I haven't met a Betta yet that didn't like it.

Watch her closely. If she starts swimming near the bottom, doesn't swim much at all or starts facing away from you as if she were a child in a corner, she may be coming down with something that isn't visible to you yet.

Good Luck and I hope this helps. I've been there.

Unhealthy fish will not eat! Shes ether sad or just sick. Do you have her in a small tank with no plants? I have owned SOOO many bettas and have came across this many times. if she dont eat soon, im sorry to say she will die! Stop changing the water, the temp is always diffrent and that could be messing with her too! Good luck

Sometimes betta fish are not able to adjust to a completely new environment. They may go into depression and starve themselves to death. You could try not feeding her for a few days and letting her get accustomed to her new home. Also, if she is not eating, the food will decay causing the oxygen in the water to deplete which is obviously harmful for your pet.

Keep changing part of the water and add a bit of aquarium background to make her more comfortable. Bettas are very territorial and a background helps them define their territory better by giving them points of orientation.

i believe the males are way more aggressive than the females. she might still be shocked from the moving in party to your house and he is taking advantage of this by eating all of he food. try taking her out and putting her in a differant bowl. keep the two bowls right next to each other and see if she starts eating in her own bowl. when she gets use to her new home and is eating add her back to the other bowl.

good luck and enjoy your fishies
