Some animal shelters will neuter or spay at 4 months but best to wait till 6 months. Most vets won't even do it till late 5 month to 6 months.

Since it's Friday by the time you call the vet on Monday, make the appointment for about two weeks time the kitten will be the perfect age for neutering. A little shy of the six-month outside limit if you don't want to live with a potential sprayer in your life.

Cats will be desexed (woman OR male) once they weigh 2 lbs (because then they are commonly effectively anesthetized) it truly is round 8 weeks previous. there's a teeny little bit of dialogue to no matter if such an early neutering is sturdy or undesirable. the suitable time is 4-6 months, for my section. Many relatives vets favor to attend till 6 months (it somewhat is often nice).. yet when your cat exhibits early signs and indicators of sexual urges, i'd locate an section which will do it faster. A male cat must be neutered earlier he starts the habit of "spraying" to make certain that he by no skill will spray. i'd not enable him flow previous his "7-month birthday" to be on the danger-free area. those who suggested 8 months or older are morons.. sorry.. A male cat who receives contained in the habit of spraying would or would no longer be stopped through neutering.. yet when he's neutered earlier he starts, he's practically 100% guaranteed by no skill to start up. so, shoot for 5-6 months.. No later..

I am a vet tech at an animal shelter and we run a spay/neuter clinic. Males and females can be done when they are three pounds. We prefer to do them at that time so they can be adopted already done and so there will not be any accidents and males will not start spraying. We have seen females go into heat at 4 months and males the same age start spraying.

All three of my male kitties were done by five months, but ask your vet as they all differ as to the optimum age for neutering, definately get it done though, your cats will be happier, healthier and non-sprayers. Also as a responsible owner you will not be contributing to the ever growing stray population.

As soon as his balls have dropped!
Usually around 5/6 months - I first took my kitten when he was five months old but when the vet had a feel only one had dropped - so he got a stay of execution for another month!

When I took him the second time (at 6 months) they were both there - as much as the clever little thing tried to hide it hehe!

Best to ask a vet, the main thing is to make sure it's done, male cat wee stinks on a Tom who still has his noolies! Besides the more obvious reason for getting it done ofcourse!!

normally around 6 months or as soon as his testes drop into position. A quick phone call to your vet will confirm this.
