If I breed a female Shih-tzu with a pekingese, will the puppies have hair or fur?

My Shih-tzu does not shed and the Pekingese sheds everywhere. Will my pups shed or not?

DON'T!!! The "designer hybrid" dogs are a scam. No real thought is given into making a new breed, they just make more mutts. You can find many of these dogs that occured naturally (i.e. not planned breedings) being euthinzed everyday in shelters across the world. Many of these dogs come from irresponsible backyard breeders and puppy mills, who dont know what in the heck theyre doing. My recomendation: adopt!!!

They are about the same some look just a little more like one than the other but in those two breeds there is not much different. We breed minature poodles to both and it was hard to tell the difference betwen a peke-a-poo and a shih-poo. Mostly just the shih-tzu has a little more wavy hair.

My daughter has a Shih-poo and there were two males from the litter when we saw them. Both Black with a touch of white on the Chest . One was smaller and curler Hair or fur like a poodles but the snout was shorter like the shih-tzu and the one my daughter chose was bigger and wavy Hair or fur more like the shih-tzu but longer snout like the poodles. So the different puppies picked up different traits.

On our mix -Both are non shed dogs but I thought that poodles did have hair versus Fur (because it keeps growing like human hair and needs to be cut- unlike Fur which doesn t) and also that poodles did not smell as much as regular dogs. And my daughters dog is as stinky as they come - Although I do love it anyway - it is so Cuddly and lovable and doesn t bark much nor much of all the typical puppy antics like chewing things to pieces. and such.

P.s. Why do people have such a problem with hybrids or mutts any more then Purepred. As far as I m concern they are better natured and your not charged an arm and a leg for it and they are more affordable for the average person. Whoever breeds the purebred can do just as much with careless breeding and charge even higher insane prices. You have good and bad breeders with both. Personally, I have nothing against purebred animals but I have had knowledge with family and friends who have purchased them and had the typical problems dealing with the particular breed and its particular im bred health problems. We as a family of ten have had a menagerie of animals and Dogs included-they were all mutts and we had them til old age or unfortunate accidents like being hit by cars. - no Vet visits except for the typical things - shots and having them fixed. We got them mostly thru word of mouth from friends or places like the Animal shelters.

I have a Female Pekingese, she bred with a Dapple Dachshund. Their puppies are more Dachshund like with the exception of their hair is semi short with a bristle brush texture. Two have the color of the mother(a redish tan) and two of them have straight tails(the others curl up). One male has the markings of the Father with white markings and blue eyes(Father has one blue eye) They are all beautiful - big eared Beagle looking with a Chinese Royalty German engineering attitude.

They both have the same kind of fur,therefore it would be fur.If however you crossbread with a moulting dog eg collie it could be either depending on the dominant gene
