Hi, I came home today to find that my cat had peed on my bed. I had just replaced this mattress less than 3 months ago and really dont want to have to buy a new one. Does anyone know anyway to get the smell out? I tried cleaning it with a carpet shampooer but dont think that is going to get the smell out. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance!

I had the same thing happen when my cat was dying. I poured Nature's Miracle on it, you really gotta soak it, and everything came out. Takes quite a while to dry.

Sorry, the only way is to buy a new mattress. Yes, I have tried enzymatic cleaners "OUT" from pet stores, but the odor remains. And as long as s/he smells his/her scent, guess what? Next time, maybe a plastic liner under the sheets? Good luck.

This reminds me of the movie "Born Free," where Elsa the Lion got angry with her humans, and left them a message on their bed. Cats will be cats.

Try combining hydrogen peroxide, dish detergent and water. I found this in a book and it really worked. It should become a paste. It'll take more than one try but it will work. 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 tbsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp of dish soap and stir well. You can also pour liberal amounts of club soda on the area and blot immediately. If the odor is there the next day, cover the area with about 1/4 inch baking soda and let is sit for two days. I have six cats so I understand your pain. Good luck!

it depends if your can sprayed the mattress try "petzyme"
if the cat pee on the mattress and the urine penetrated the mattress then buy a new mattress.
but you can prevent your cat from peeing on the mattress or anywhere else in the house by keeping his/her litter box clean! the littler box has to changed at lest every 5 days. cats don't like to go into a filthy little box. another possibility is your cat a male older than 6 month and not nutter? male cats have to be nutter before they learned that they're males cats and (usually it happens by the time their 6 months) because they're territorial and they like to mark their territory by spraying their urine around their territory. and if your cat happen to be an indoor kitty only territory he has to spray is inside the house.

When we had the same thing happen I squirted some disinfectant on it. I got a washer, wet it and kept rubbing it over the mark.
I did that quite a few times, then aired and flipped the mattress. Be careful though not to put too much disinfectant on it or that will become a problem! Time seems to help too.

Nature's Miracle is exactly that -- a miracle. saturate the area thoroughly and allow it to air dry, and the smell will be gone. you can find it in pet stores and perhaps other stores as well. the reason it works so well is b/c it contains enzymes -- they arent just a fancy laundry detergent term--they are organisms that actually ingest the biological offender (it works on other nasty stain makers too) and digest it and then it's gone! it works on people urine too (a benefit to parents teaching potty training) . You don not have to get rid of your mattress. it will work. good luck!

I had the same problem, and I have your solution! I just happened to have a bottle of cleaner lying around right after my cat peed on my mattress. This stuff has a REALLY strong scent, and it will also kill any germs your cat has left. The stuff is called Sol-U-Guard Botanical™ Disinfectant, refer to the following web page:

as quickly as we first have been given our dogs a chum of mine advised a magnificent product reported as Nature's Miracle for puppy stains and scent. i've got used it on the settee, the floor, rugs or maybe our matress whilst the doggy had an twist of fate on it. Its a organic product, and there is in actuality no scent to it. the nice and comfortable button is to get it deep adequate to attain the full stain. I very just about dumped an entire bottle of it instantaneous, and positioned a towel over it till it dried. the better section approximately those products, is that it removes the scent nicely adequate that even the animals can't scent it anymore, and could not think of to apply this spot as a washing room spot from now on.

Go to the pet store and buy the BIG bottle of "Nature's Miracle". The stuff works great for pet accidents.

Putting a rubber sheet under your regular sheets might be a good idea until you can figure out why your kitty is angry at you.

Try the extra strength, antibacterial Febreeze. Since you've already cleaned it as well as you can, try giving it a good spray, and airing it out.
This happened to me also. I just kept spraying the thing, and the smell did go away. I did use the whole bottle eventually!
