I have just received a cocker spaniel she is almost 7 years old. She was kept in a kennel her whole life and used for breeding. Is there any way to house break her at this age or teach her that it is ok to play? She is a very active dog and loves to go outside and walk but I can not get her to do number 2 outside. I am at my whits end with her. my husband loves her and does not want to have to get rid of her but I am the one home all the time with her and have to clean up after her. I am not sure what to do. I am scared my kitten will pick up on the scent and quit using her litter box. What do I do?

Female cat...has all her claws...no collar. She has been around the neighborhood for weeks. I am allergic to cats (and we just bought our kids pet gerbils) so I won't bring her in the house. I don't mind if she is around outside the house, but I don't want her to become dependent on us. If I stop my daughter from feeding her, will the cat move on or do I have to chase her away? I know the sounds mean...(I feel sick just writing this) but I am truly trying to do what is best. Any suggestions other that "Bring her in the house and deal with the allergy" are welcome.

My cat is always on the counter, he knocks glasses off and shreds paper towels to bits! I won't give him away, so don't even try it!

I keep buying algae eaters and they keep dying and I don't know why, there is lots of algae in the tank or do they need their own special food?

Squirrels are everywhere, but I don't think I've ever seen their poop.

Just something I was wondering.

Really! Everytime he lays down, within one second he gives one little sneeze. It's so funny... I am taking him to the vet for a check up in a few days. But meanwhile, has anyone heard of bunnies allergic to laying down?

My cat pee'd on the basement floor twice within a few hours. Litter box was cleaned the night before so maybe the cat was just upset about something. I may not have cleaned the first mess thoroughly enough. After the second time, I held my cat saying NO really loud. He wanted to get away but I held on to him. I just repeated no no you dont do it there. However, my roommate now says that I have to remain the "heavy" or the tough person. He said that only one person should discipline the pet and the other is the "good guy". Is this true? am I know the "bad guy" and my roommate is the "good guy" in the cat's eyes? Is this true?

I've heard that PETA believes it's wrong to own animals for entertainment purposes. Does that include having pet dogs or cats?

My wife and I really feel like our dog is a valued member of our family. She even gets a place at the table when we have dinner.

Does PETA believe we are holding her prisoner and that we should turn her lose? There's no way she could fend for herself in the wild!

Have just introduced my first fish t my freshwater community tank, 10 glowlight tetras. water quality is being monitored and is fine, and the fish have been in about 24 hrs. At first they grouped together ie for the first 18 hr or so, which is what i would expect from a 'schooling fish'. Now they have grouped into a 2 or three groups ad have started chsing each other, difficult to tell but i think its the same fish being chased all the time...
my question is this, is this mating type behavior ( these fish are fairly young as they are recent purchases) or have i bought too many for one 'school', or would you say they are in distress?

I am thinking of taking in a new cat who currently needs a new home, I already have two female cats and before I definately say that I will take on this other male cat (he's been done) I want to look at the possible complications it may cause and how I would go about introducing him to my own cats? Another concern I have is that he currently only lives just down the road so I am concerned he'll keep going back to his current owners

I have heard that bells are harmful for cats, they disorient them and even can turn them deaf, besides such a permanent close noise being really annoying for an animal whose ears are much more sensitive than ours. Is this true?
