Pets - 16 September 2006

I found a stray dog today that is extremely malnourished. She has a tag but all contact info is invalid. If she doesn't get help soon I'm afraid she will die. I can't afford to take her to the vet even though I know this is what she really needs. does anyone have any ideas of what to do? How can we try to get her better quick? No cruel answers please.

My 14 year old Husky died in the wee hours of this morning, after 1am to be sure. He suffered from epilepsy and hip displasia with the hip pain increasing the last two weeks. In addition to the pain, my Husky, Bear was acting very strange this week acting fearful of me and pacing a lot. I discovered him dead this morning. The odd thing I noticed while digging the enormous grave was the strong smell of amonia. I am concerned that he may have been poisoned. Does anyone have any input on the subject. Where does the amonia smell come from?

My cat has really stinky breath. When he was little he had a respritory infection which made him have stinky breath. We have since brought him to the vet and his infection was treated and he's healthy now. The only thing is the breath is still stinky. I'm worried that he may have another infection or something may be seriously wrong. I was just wondering if anyone knows the cost of getting medication for these types of things because I'm a pretty broke college student :). Thanks for your time.

I have a 2.5 gallon that I wan't to put something in. I wan't one fish that likes to be alone and will stay small. Or a fish that stays small that likes to be kept in group of two or three. Anyone know of any good fish?

I already asked the airlines about what I need etc...I know that...I was just wondering if someone had a good experience with such move and with which airlines? I contacted petmovers.com etc and would like to know if anyone has any experience with them. Please dont advise me to leave him here because that is not an option. I am moving to India permanently and will not, under any conditions, leave my dog here or give him up for adoption. Let me know what you guys know about such travel? My cat picked one up and immediately dropped it. He shook his head wildly, flicking his tongue like he was trying to get the taste out of his mouth. He didn't bite it, but he got a good taste of the goo that they are covered with. I got the idea that it tasted really bad, and that their taste must be their primary defense against predators.
Someone told me that tree frogs are poisonous, so now I am worried.
Does anyone know what symptoms I should be watching for, and should I be really worried?

so here is my question.But let me start with this,,,,
You bash Amstaff or those that are dual registered in the UKC and the AKC, however, if you are so smart you will realize that when every city, and state has banned these dogs your big bad pitfighter is included as well as my so called (by you) staffy taffy.

Do you do anything at all to prevent Breed Specific Laws?
Do you write to majors? Do you attend town meetings?
DO YOU DO ANYTHING AT ALL FOR THE BREED BUT FIGHT IT?
Or do people like you just stick to the back woods and breed with your sister? And yes, I will continue to speak up for Pits because people like you are to chicken s**t to.

And for all others, what are your opinions on people who like to trash dogs that are not his dogs and do nothing to help the breed he claims to love?

I have two puppies that my wife and I acquired. Our dog recently passed away, so we adopted one puppy, a hound and another puppy who we got from a friend which is a German Sheppard mix. Both are about 5 months old and very loving. Unfortunately, our lifestyles have become very active with a newborn and an eight year old. We are not able to give the puppies the attention they need and would like to find a good home for them, free. They both have thier shots up to date. The hound is fixed, they are both female and very loving. If anyone knows where i could advertise them in the Richmond, VA area (or anywhere in VA for that matter), I would greatly appreciate it. The SPCA is full and not accepting puppies at this time and the pound will more than likely put them down if they don't find a home within ten days, so neither one of those is an option at this point.

i board an 11yr old tb mare and haven't heard from her owner in over 3 months. she owes me for 4 mths board,4 times having her feet trimmed and a wormer.(493.00)
i don't call her anymore because she doesn't do what she says. i have told her about tana(the horse) needing her feet trimmed and she says she will bring the money over and i don't see her for 2 or 3 months.
i don't really want the money, i would rather have the horse. at least i would know that she wouldn't be moved somewhere else and left to starve.
she has been here for the last 4 yrs(yes i have grown attatched) and i give her the best of care.(i also board 1 other horse and own my own)
the horse is just an ego trip for her owner. she does nothing with her and only sees her about 5-7 times a year.
i live in utah and need to know its' laws. i have tried lawers but no-one specializes in this area that i have found.
any help would be great.
