Onion juice and chocolate are toxic for dogs: dogs lack the enzymes to digest them. Chocolate can kill. Consider how much of each (s)he may have swallowed. If it was only a little, it shouldn't kill him and may not even make him/her sick.
There is also an Animal Poison Center you can call (it's not free). You can get the address from the ASPCA website.
