My boyfriend and I want to get a dog, but we differ in breed preference. I have a toy poodle that is 4 years old. I am partial to smaller dogs and breeds that don't shed. He wants a lab.
Any suggestions for a compromise? And don't say labradoodle because he already said that was out of the question.

I've seen dogs climb trees before, but this is a heck of a new trick for a dog this old. Has anyone had a similar experience (especially with a beagle)?

I work on a farm, and yesterday a woman dropped a cat off because she couldn't take w/ her when she moved to a nursing home. I took it home and gave it everything a cat wants, but shut it off from my other pets (a 150 pound dog and 3 vicious cats). It seems scared, which I understand, but its displaying some weird tendencies. It sucks on the tip of its tail whenever I'm in the room. I can't get it to stop. It "burrows" underneath a 30 pound comforter on the floor, and I don't know how it breathes, but it can stay under there for hours at a time. Its eating, sleeping, drinking, and going to the bathroom, but I don't know how to make it more comfortable. It has a vet appointment to see what we can find out about it (like the gender). If it gets injections, I'm afraid it'll get even more scared. It has mood swings, sometimes I can pet it but other time it hisses at me when I touch it. What should I do?

They say that african lovebirds sense the slightest tension in the home. Is it possible that the bird felt it and couldn't handle the tension. I feel sorry for the bird.

I have two brothers and only one has this issue (the other brother is allergic to his vaccinations, but that is another story). Apparently his gums are rejecting his teeth and they are red and swollen. Vet says he was born with this. We have tried the OraVet gel but it is too painful to apply twice a day. We have also tried steroid shots which worked on a temporary basis. They also no longer work. The vet says that the only option is to remove all of his teeth. I think that would be a great ordeal to put an 8 yr old cat through. Does anyone know of any other options, or has had a cat that has been through a similar situation?

Thanks to all who offer serious answers!
:-)

Would an iguana and savannah monitor of the same size and age do well in a 75 gallon aquarium together? Are either one aggressive/protective to want to harm the other?

16 week old Boxer, has had mild hives in the past on his belly. Those were stress-related (appeared after the vet and when separated from me for lengthy periods of time).

Thursday morning, he was covered in whelps, basically head to toe, and had scratched an area raw. Was given injections of steroid, benadryl, and antibiotics. Sent home with cephalexin 2x daily. This morning, he was worse, itchy all over.

I have not changed his food since he came home at 8wks. Haven't changed detergents or household cleaners. I am at a loss. Nothing has changed in his environment. Vet says it is unlikely we will figure out what is causing this.

Any recommendations/personal experience out there?

I know a few people who seem like they are compensating for never having a child. It seems a bit odd.
