I want to get a puppy for Christmas. I want a small dog. Any ideas on what I should get? I was thinking about a minature dachsund or a deer chihuahua. Something easy. Any ideas?

I have a mini dachshund and to me they are very intelligent dogs, they tend to house break pretty easy (anyways everyone I know that has one said that theirs did). They can be however hardheaded (if they don't want to do something, they won't). Flash my dachshund loves to sleep late, he can be very active but he also enjoys laying on the couch beside me being lazy. I would recommend a dachshund to anyone, I had always had chihuahuas and then I got him and he was soooo much easier to train than the chihuahuas were.

If you are picking dogs remember that pekinese and chihuahuas tend to be moody. When looking for a puppy, whatever breed, pick the one who is laid back. He is still sleeping while brother is pouncing him and is easy going but when he is awake is playful. This dog will act well with kids and older people as well.

How about giving the greatest gift of love and receiving the greatest give of love by adopting a puppy from the Animal Shelter? We just did that - little terrier mix. Got him at 6 weeks! If they don't have any puppies, ask them for a reference. Lots of people call and leave messages for that at the Shelters.

Visit your local animal shelter...they have a verity of dogs to choose from...the mini dach and the chih...are pretty dominate type dogs...you have to make sure that you are the dominate or Alpha "dog" of the "pack" or you will have biting dogs on your hands...ever wonder why chihuahua are in the top 5 most vicious dog list?

Chihuahua's are faithful pets. Good for asthma also. Mine lived for 18 years. Sweetiest little thing. Her name was Sweet Pea.

chow/lab mix or chow chow.. .. very loyal & they will eat a chihuahua if you give em the chance.
