Carrie, for Caramel, or Butternut. Try the word toffee in French ( I don't know what that'd be, but you could find out) or maybe French for candy? Good luck.. new pets are so much fun! :)

Toffee? We had countless guinea pigs that each and every person had confectionary-based names... Fudge, Nougat, Liquorice... etc (yet no Toffee). besides, this is why the call Toffee looks obvious to me, given the colour you have defined him as :P
