Hi. I bought a 3.5 inch goldfish yesterday. also a 10 gallon tank, gravel, and some plastic doodads to decorate - all of which I cleaned very well, and set up to wait a day before I introduce the fish. I know goldfish are very dirty. What sort of filters should I get? Will any sort do? One will be enough? Also, i think my fish is in shock right now; is there anything I can do to make things easier when I introduce the fish, other than the general wait 20-minutes until it adapts to the water temperature change thing? How long should I expect it to be in shock?

I'm moving to a small house by myself soon with a smallish backyard, I want to get a small dog that is still aggressive enough to protect me incase of intruders etc.. but all the littles one seem to be yappy and timid??.. I used to have a boxer who was great but he passed away and a dog his with his energy and size would get bored in my small house.. plus I work 10 hours a day so it would be hard to exercise the dog regulary..

i have 2 budgies: a male and a female
the female just layed eggs about 3 and is just staying in the house my dad made for her to nest
what i want to know is:
1. how many eggs do they usually lay and how longdoes it take (app.) for the eggs to hatch??

2. what do i do with the baby budgies when born? what kind of foods do i feed??

3.how many times a year are the females fertile and usually how many eggs are laid?

any other advice would be muchly appreciated

I have a 5 1/2 month old puppy - Australian Sheperd. He loves rawhide bones !! The lady that fostered him before i adopted him said it is perfectly safe for a dog to eat them. But still ... thought i might get some good answers on here ... from people who have dogs or work with dogs !! Are they safe, healthy, and good for their teeth? --- THANX

My snake (a ball python) has the tendancy to exhale very forcefully so that the air coming out of his nostrils makes a squeek. He also sometimes will rub his face along solid objects. Could this mean he is having a hard time breathing?

I found a stray dog who had ehrlichia. The vet prescribed doxycycline for 2 weeks. I want to know if 2 weeks is enough, because I saw in some sites that it has to be taken 2-4 weeks. Also, after the time he takes the medication, how do I know if the illness is gone? Do I test him again? Because I also read once he's had the disease, he will always test positive. Is this true?

I was in the middle of moving, and my maincoon got out. He is an indoor cat, and is very large and long haired. I live in Florida, and the heat has been miserable.
I am very scared he is doing very badly outside. There is no trace of him anywhere... i put food and toys and a bed out for him, but he hasnt returned.
Can anyone help with suggestions?
