My snake (a ball python) has the tendancy to exhale very forcefully so that the air coming out of his nostrils makes a squeek. He also sometimes will rub his face along solid objects. Could this mean he is having a hard time breathing?

He is probably getting ready to shed. It is very common for snakes to wheeze (or squeak) before they shed. The rubbing is the snake trying to loosen the skin so that it can shed.It can rub against the cage, water bowls or any object inside the cage. If the squeaking doesn't stop after he sheds then I would check with a vet.

You might want to search online for answers to this question, or consult an exotic animal vet. Hopefully, someone who owns a python will post an answer. Hope you follow up on your concerns and find out if this is normal for your snake, and get it some medical attention before it is too late, if it is sick.

It sounds to me like he needs to shed. I have 5 and I've noticed that one will seem to almost wheeze when it's about to shed.And don't worry, all snakes rube their heads along solid objects to loosen the skin off. If you still don't think something is right, just take it to the vet. No problem right!

He could have a respiratory infection.
I would suggest getting him checked out by a vet.

yes,sometimes snkaes tend to make themselves die instead of living indoors all the time,maybe it swallowed something,snakes tend to do that,go to the vet

Sounds to me like he's got a mouse stuck in there! JK. I dunno. Maybe he is have a little airway constriction but rubbing on objects? That sounds like he's itchy from germs or paracites. Ask your vet.
