hmmm....is this a kitten or a grown cat? Is it in your house? If it is in your house, and hiding, you can either open the doors until it goes outside, or let it stay inside where ever it is hiding and give it food and water and hopefully a cat box to go bathroom in. It will either eventually warm up to you and let you pet it, or it may remain forever wild, and in that case you will have to let it go outside forever. If the cat lives outside, it probably will never lose its fear of humans, because it was born a wild cat. Please remember that this cat was born with a fear of humans, because its mom was not a tame cat. However, do not give up hope on this cat. I have been feeding 15-20 feral (wild) cats for 10 years in my back yard. It always amazes me at how different each cat's personality can be. Many times I can reach out and pet an adult cat or its kittens I have never petted before, and it begins to purr. Then there are those cats and their kittens who have been here for years who will run at the sight of me, even though they eat here every day. So, don't take it personally if your cat just has a wild cat personality and won't be tame. It's not your fault, or the cat's fault. It is just how the cat is, either wild or not.

You cannot tame a wild (feral) cat. In our country they are a menace to native wildlife and they can inflict nasty wounds to a human, be sensible and realise the wild cat is just using you for food. Stop feeding it and get yourself a nice VACCINATED CAT from the local animal shelter, then the new cat will love you forever.

Wait it out. Make sure you leave food and water out for him all th e time. Feral aka wild cats can eventually come around. I have one that doesn't like me either, but after about a year, he at least comes and lays about a foot away from where I'm sitting. I feel like it is his way of telling me that he loves me. Every now and then if he is sleeping in his favorite chair, he lets me pet him. I've only heard him prrrr about 4 - 5 times since I've had him though. :( No matter what, I still love him.

I got a cat from an animal shelter 6 1/2 years ago, and she is still not very outgoing. if you walk by her she runs and hides. i have never mistreated her or anytihng. its just her personality. i think before we got her she may have been abused, but after 6 years you'd think she'd come around, but nope!! its there personality.

Just like it is for humans, it's hard for a cat to have such a large change in their life.
