Go and talk to the staff in the aquatic centre for more reliable advice (i.e.where you got the fish from?). They should be able to tell you possible causes (disease, infection, figting etc) and there may be some medication you can add to the tank to help it.

It has mouth rot, this is due to stress. I am afraid the the fish will die but you should treat the tank and do a water change - 2" of tank water out and top up with fresh.

It is important that you get the water tested BEFORE THE WATER CHANGE at the aquatic centre they can tell you if the water is at the correct levels of PH balance and Nitrate and Ammonia levels too.

Then you can successfully sort the tank out. If you have Gold Fish with other types then the levels of fish waste from the Gold Fish can upset the balance too.

The aquatic centre should be able to advise you, do not take the fish with you as this can cause the fish stress and make the problem worse.

Please let me know how you get on.

do you mean it is having trouble opening its mouth? since the fish has not suffocated it must still have a mouth to take water in. it may have an infection which is affecting the mouth parts what you do depends on the infection and how much the fish is worth. without knowing more details its impossible to give more guidence.

Buy a breeding tank if you havent already got one and place the injured fish in there for a while. You can buy these for around a fiver and they sit in the tank with the water flowing through. Fish do fight you need to keep an eye on them and if they are injured then seperate them from the rest.

Maybe he has an infection and the area around his mouth is swollen so it looks like it has disappeared. Contact a pet shop who specialise in fish and ask them if there are drops you can put in the water.

hope you are trying to say that it s not eating. Better way is to put in a bowl containg cold water and added salt. instead of giving fish food available at shops you can feed it with something like algae, worms or sea foods

If this is a serious question, then you should post this question in a fish forum. They will be able to give you the advise you need.

Love your pet.

Take it to the vet as you would any other pet. How long has it been like it. It's a bit cruel to leave it starve to death. Maybe it has a disease that's eating its face.

Get it a new mouth, and tell it to be more careful with this one!
