Try offering your cat something s/he likes next storm, maybe offer him a treat or pet him gently everytime thunder strikes so he starts to associate thunder with good things. Or one solution a woman had with her dog who had the same problem is she used scent, she found out her dog liked apple scent so she gave him an apple scented pillow with every thunder storm and it calmed him down immensely.
Hope this helps, good luck!

The best thing you can do is create a nice, dark, well ventilated area for your cat to hide when she feels anxious. If your cat if afraid of thunder the best thing you can do is have some compassion and do what I stated before. When animals feel afraid, the best thing that a human companion can do is try to make the experience less traumatic by allowing them to do what they want. If your cat is afraid and wants to hide, make sure that she has a nice place to stay until the storm dies down.

Not much it is a gut feeling and they feel it before we do. It might be the lighting or just an animal reaction. Just be calm and try and not force calmness on your cat. That might make it worse.

nothing im afraid. i had a cat that always hid under the chair during a storm...nothing helped...just consider it an odd quirk of your cat that gives it more personality. : )

next storm have a nice play session, and/or hold them so they know that you will protect them. the first thunderstorm that my boys experienced I was here for them and they jumped up on my lap and wouldn't leave me, now, they aren't scared or anything, they will look out the window more durring thunderstorms but basically they just act like nothing is going on.
