I've seen dogs climb trees before, but this is a heck of a new trick for a dog this old. Has anyone had a similar experience (especially with a beagle)?

It's true - we're lucky to have such a healthy, crazy old dog. I just freaked out a little because I couldn't see her, thought she had gotten out of the yard, and then she bayed at me from OVERHEAD!

LOL, no, not possessed, just a beagle.
Kinda reminds me of my girl, she's part beagle and will be fifteen next week. And despite her age (and now blindness and lack of teeth) she still lets that beagle weirdness take over from time to time. And that great beagle sense of humor.

Be proud, how many dog owners can say that their 10 year old dog can do such an incredible stunt. Remember even if they are old they still have the heart of a playful pup. He is not possessed, he's most probably following his instinct as he is a hunter at heart. Don't worry and if he does another strange thing share it with us, we love to hear about amazing things that our pets do.

Sounds like you are lucky to have a 10 year old dog that active. Beagles are hunting dogs and will frequently climb, swim, or dig to get their prey.

Do you have squirrels or possums or other creatures like this in your yard? Your Beagle was probably hunting. Nature too over and sent him up a tree!

Well, you have to remember that Beagles are hunting dogs, so they're pretty good at climbing, even though we don't get to witness it often. I wouldn't worry about her, sounds like she was having fun.

No, he isn't possessed. Beagles are hunters - that is in his nature! Just watch him when he does that as to make sure he doesn't fall out and get left unattended! He is acting normal for his breed.

No, Beagles are hunting dogs and he was probably tracking a squirrel. They will do anything to get to what they are tracking.

We have 2 beagles and they both do weird things. The little one is so weird we started calling him "Spooky".
