I bought a Channel Catfish from an aquatics centre back in 1999. They told me it would grow to about 10 inches in length. I have a 5000 gallon pond in my garden where he lives. He`s now about 4ft in length and the last time I weighed him (in 2005) he was 65lbs. I feed him tinned cat/dog food twice a day at dawn and dusk. I wondered if anyone else had one? Or knew just how big he`s likely to get? And how long do they live for??? Thanks!

Please this is serious, no yes or no answers, I need details. My American Pit Bull Terrier may have ruptured her Cranial Cruciate Ligament in her stifle. I've been to the vet, getting X-rays tuesday, they have to sedate her to relax her enough to perform the required tests. Has anyone had this surgery performed on their dog over 30 pounds, what did the surgery cost and what was the outcome? i.e. recovery, return to normal etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I just stick the pills in their mouths and shut it and stroke their chin to get them to swallow it. The big cat need 2 1/2 and it was a real struggle and she had yellow saliva dripping all over and I wiped it back onto her chin. The smaller cat only needed 1 1/2 pills and it wasn't too bad because that cat has learned NOT to stick her claws in me (just me, she still claws others). Then I put their ADVANTAGE on them so now they're all set for another month (2 months for the worm meds). The question is: Is there an easier way to give cats their worm pills and is it even necessary?

I have two aquariums, an 18 gallon, and a 55 gallon. Both of them are 24 inches tall.

Right now, there's only four fish in them. A betta in the 18 gallon, a Clown loach and two rosie barbs in the 55 gallon. They both have undergravel filters, and the 55 gallon tank has a pair of Fluval 204 filters.

I hear that the good bacteria in the filters can die if they don't get oxygen for half an hour or so, so I've taken the tops off the fluvals in order to let some air into them, but what else can I do, and what should I do when the power comes back on? It's been off for ten minutes already.

but for all our putting him outside he will run back inside to pee...it's like he has the message mixed up. I am at a loss, I have never had a dog do this before. He's a mixed breed about 8 to 10 weeks old, we were told his mother was a pure bred kelpie, I think his father is probably a pit bull. PLEASE HELP......

my best bud has seems to be having trouble with his skin. he's getting older (8) but has always been active and well fed. he is healthy (we've been to our vet just a couple of weeks ago), always been fed human-grade food, receives tons of attention (but not spoiled), and we generally do our research when a problem does arise.

That said, this is the first time i've asked a question, and I'm just wondering if there is something simple that i can add to his food to help his dry skin ( olive oil, sardines...etc). maybe there is something we had not thought of before...

note: his fur is shiny, it seems to be mainly his skin...no fleas, no current meds, no allergies that we are aware of.

it could just be the dry summer air...

What is the best method to keep cats safe and comfortable in a car for four days?

Personally, I would set up a litter box, food and water and let them roam. Would catnip work to calm them down?

I really want to be a Horse Vet, but i dont know how you get started. After High school, what should i major in in College?
