On occasion, you'll see a male cat "mount" another male cat. The
theory is that it is a dominance behavior. Its hard to say whether
a cat loves another cat regardless of gender, so who knows what
its sexual affiliation is.
I guess I'd bat the question right back at you: Is it possible for cats
to be heterosexual?
If, by gay, you mean do cats ever do sexual things to other cats of
the same gender - I have no idea about female cats, but male cats
certainly do.

Yes, it's possible.
Quote from the abstract of the book cited below:
"...animals that routinely engage in homosexual behaviour and include birds, dolphin, deer, bison and cats, as well as monkey and apes, such as macaques, gorillas and bonobos."
..and it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with "being stuck inside". Read up on some behavioural biology, folks.
Post below is completely wrong -- famous examples in the wild are homosexual bonding between seagulls, penguins etc. :)

because cats go by a natural instinct, the male recognizes the female's pheramones (basically a smell released by glands) and the other way around. so, scientifically, and just by nature alone, cats cannot be gay. the entire life of animals is based on reproduction, so if the cat is gay/lesbian, he/she/ cannot fullfill this need.....therefore it has to be impossible for a cat to be gay. :)

Cats...no
Dogs...yes. I've witnessed my neighbour's 2 male dogs. And you know how a male dog's *** gets stuck in a female when they do it...this happened to my neighbour's german shepherd when it was doing it with the male black lab. Of course it wasn't the "regular" place that only the female has.

To date there has been homosexuality (pair bonding or sexual acts) in several animals - including monkeys called Bonobos. Bonobos I think do not have homosexual pair bonding (coupling) but homsexual sexual practices such as same-sex oral sex are practiced in their groups. They are still being studied but from what I have read it seems to be more of something like favors, akin to sharing food and picking out ticks out of anothers' fur, rather than sex with homosexual tendencies like what homsexual sexual humans feel.
