I LOVE the "Bullseye" pill gun. I have a cat that needs daily meds and will take fingers if necessary. The pill gun has saved many digits and gets that pill down quickly!!!

Try the hide-it-in the food thing; but make sure each cat gets seperate food; if they have a common bowl you won't know how much each is getting.
My cat has to have a pill every night. What a struggle at first! Here's what to do- wait until the kitty is nice and drowsy. Then, start petting and luvin' on her. Once she's comfortable, gently open her mouth and stick that nasty tasting pill down; rubbing her throat at the same time to encourage swallowing. After all the pills are down, give her some yummy kitty treats and continue with the love. :)
Eventually, it becomes less traumatic for everyone. Check with your vet before stopping the worm pills. But if they are indoor cats and there's no infected pets in the house, then you probably don't need to bother.
Good luck

A cat can be the hardest animal to give a pill to! I have seen pills go down their throat to where you can't see it and yet they are able to get it back up! It's uncanny! All you can do it open their mouth and put the pill as far back on their tongue and close their mouth and rub their neck. Sometimes if you can manage you can squirt a little water in their mouth with it which makes them want to swallow it. They have a knack for salivating excessively too as you mention. You can try putting it in food, but sometimes they smell it on the food and will refuse it too. Good luck!

Going thru this same thing right now. If you can hide it in food or sprinkle it on soft food, all the easier for you. However, my siamese knows what I am up to & turns his nose up at medicated food. So, I am forced to make him take a pill everyday.
My vet showed my how to wrap him in a pillowcase (or a towel) & "scruff" him so it forces his mouth open. I use a syringe (no needle just the plastic tube with the end cut off) to force it to the back of his throat while is scruffed. He has no choice but to swallow. I feel like such a bad mama doing it, but its the only way I can get him to swallow a pill.
Good luck!

You can buy fish flavored pill pockets to put pills in. I had a really hard time giving my cat any kind of pills. Tried all the tricks that everyone else has mentioned. The pill pockets didn't work for me either, but thought I would mention them. What I had to do was put the the pill in Cat Lax, Laxatone, (any kind of hair ball medicine). The pill stuck to the hairball medicine and then all you had to do was put it in their mouth. It worked for me and my cat was the best at not taking medicine.

it isnt necissary if you KNOW that thier environment is clean. ask the vet if there is a type of dewormer that can be given with the feed that is suitable for your cat. if the cats have been around others that had/ have worms keep it up, but i don't give mine pills for it, and none of them have EVER had worms. if you are really struggling, but want to keep the cats on the med.'s, ask the vet to deworm them when they go for the usual visit. its not that much more money.

Try crushing the pills as fine as you can get them and then put it in a little canned food....if they like canned they wont even know there are meds in it. I have to do it for my kitties, and it works great. Good luck, I hate having a lovely set of claws in my skin too!

It's necessary to give them worm meds- sorry! but have you tried putting it their food? or getting maybe moist cat treats and putting in there? Or even cat nip? If you crush it fine enough you could pull it off.

Wrap the pills up in ham or stick them into a piece of tuna. If your cat is anything like most of mine, they will just gobble it up and hey presto, job done!
