I have heard from several people that Garlic will ward off fleas ( or kill them), and Olive oil (internally and externally) will keep their skin moisturized. I have not tried either. What are your thoughts on the matter?

I want to get a pug and I live in Houston. It gets hot and humid in the summer. I just wanted to know how much walking can they do. The walks would usually be in the evening when it cools down. Can they handle a mile walk?

I personally think that is a few assholes in the world that dont raise their dogs right and give this breed its reputation. Yes they are more protective dogs but if trained right they are amazing! And some are just amazing!!!

I want to shave my dog for the summer. I know his coat keeps him cool, but I looked it up and it says to shave it one inch. I was going to take him to the groomers, but then I was wondering if I could shave him with men's hair clippers with the one inch cartridge on it. He is very patient and well behaved. I know he will let me do it, but I still didn't know if that was okay. If you guys have any suggestions or comments, I'd really appreciate!!!!!

Thank for everyhting!!!!

She is a 20lb Maine Coon, she is very nasty and just bites me everytime I try to comb her (even in the non matted areas). I also cannot afford to have her professionaly shaved. Does anyone have any helpful ideas that could help me? Any and all comments are welcome.

I have a Rotti Lab Cross. He is 4 years old and 127 pounds. His duclaws grew out of control and eventually circled around and dug back into his foot. Got the duclaws cut today and it turns out that where the duclaws had dug in there was puss. The person who cut his duclaws said that he has an infection there now. Took him straight to the vet and the vet said he would have to knock Hercules (my dog) out, shave, clean and maybe cut and stitch and a whole bunch of other stuff. At the end of the examination Hercules got an antibiotics shot and we were told to make an appointment with the vet.

My dog-saavy friend actually said that it shouldn't be necessary to do all that and told me to give him 1 mg per pound of benadryl. up to 3 times a day and soak his feet in betadine and warm water 3 times/day. I just want to confirm whether or not this is a possible solution, see if there is an even better solution or if I will in fact have take him to the vet and have him sedated. Thanks so much

A stray cat has adopted us. She is about 3 months old. Is there a way to tell if she has had her shots? Could she be safely vaccinated again? I'm assuming that she hasn't had a chip implanted in her to track her.

My sister-in-law told me that chickens don't urinate the urination absorbs throughout their body and thats what makes certain parts of the chicken so moist and tender... I'm kind of scared to eat anymore chicken if this is the case...
