How come dogs don't get sick from drinking dirty water? How come cats don't get sick from eating mice?

They can, and they do. The best advice is, don't let dogs or cats drink from puddles, and don't let them eat dead animals that they find outside. There are diseases that can come from this. Ask your vet.

They do, or can get sick from both of those things. Mice carry disease, which can kill a cat. Dirty water carries the same threat.
This is why you put plenty of fresh water out for your pets. If a cat is well fed, it will still kill the mice. Most likely they won't eat it. It is in their nature to hunt for mice, birds, and bugs. They may even bring it into the house as a present for you. If that happens, it means they love you and are saying thank you for taking care of them.

When you see a dog drinking from a puddle of what looks like dirty water he is only lapping from the thin layer of clean water on the very top, dogs can do this. You could eat rats and mice without getting sick, if they are fresh kill.

Dogs do get sick from drinking dirty water. They can get giardia, which makes them have diarrhea. Cats can get sick from eating mice too.

dogs DO get sick - depending on how dirty the water is.. but generally its because their stomachs are tougher than ours (we weaken our immune systems by drinking "purer" water and bottled water too)
cats get fleas and worms from mice.. they also can get toxioplasmosis (the disease pregnant women are to take procautions against) if they eat a mouse that is sick with that virus..
also cats who are vaccinated are at less risk to get sick from eating sick mice

they do!!!!!! since my mother owns a campground, and there is several campers here, our dogs go out and about the campground neighbor hood and dig and beg for scraps , some people give them some of their scraps, and then they get sick if they eat it,then if they get sick , we usually give our dogs some pepto a childs dose,and let them heal from that , you would think that they would learn from getting sick over and over!!!!! lol!!!!

They can get sick, but if they did, we probably wouldn't have dogs or cats anymore. They have to survive somehow.

Their stomachs are more imune to things than a humans.
