hi my house is wired with aluminum wire and we have this light that has been changed 6 times because originally there was a cheap builders light up there that got replaced with a ceiling fan but the ceiling fan was replaced a couple of times since the remote never worked properly on any of the cieling fans so finally we replaced the cieling fan with just a normal light but now the socket got cracked on the new light by accident. The problem is im wondering if it is safe to put another light up because i have heard aluminum wire breaks easy and the wires have been moved around alot. But if i dont replace the light i wont have a light. We also use the correct wire nuts and anti oxidant on the connections. Also when the 4 cieling fans that had been put up were wired correctly since i have put up many cieling fans up without remotes before. Also Is there a certain number of times aluminum or copper wire can be bent with out having to worry about a fire happening or the wire breaking.

Please can you tell me how you fix a piece of plasterboard to brickwork. Does it then need plaster on it before it's painted? I know it's obvious that I'm totally inexperienced but it's only a piece 3feet by 2feet.

I am a young builder working for a small building contractor locally.I have learnt many things over the years & feel it is time to move on, on my own.A mate of mine that I have worked for is moveing soon.He has asked me if i can remove some interior walls.I have suggested to him that he will need a engineer to work out the weight distribution for what size steel we need,to hold the floor up above.I also told him that we need to comply with the building regs.He says, no we dont need any of them and dosent want to.Where do I stand with building regs?Do we need to tell the council & get a builder inspector?Whos responsable?Do we need an engineer? Please help.

You get what you pay for: i have a sofa and loveseat that i purchased brand new and the threading is coming out on the right corner of both. Can i rethread this myself? What type of needle and thread would i need? The seller of the set went out of business. I only payed $600 for both so i dont want them reupholstred. We are buying a new set this summer but for now it is an eyesore. My other option is to purchase slipcovers i would be spending about $200 for those.

I'm renting a place in Columbus, Ohio. It seems to have been built in the 1970s but all the windows are single pane and they open to the side. It is so cold next to the window there might as well be nothing there. I think the frame is aluminum. I guess I'm trying to ask if the landlord was supposed to replace the windows before he accepted new tenants this past year. Am I liable for anything or am I just stuck?

Does this affect the heat in the room?
Does this affect the efficiency of the furnace?

If a room doesn't have a cold air return, is it worth the expense to try to add one?

And, is there anyway to absolutely prevent it from coming back?
