cheap ones I would change once a month. Especially if your house is dusty, or you are sensitive to dust and particulates in the air. There are more expensive, deluxe filters that you could probably get away with changing every 3 months of use.

They are best changed once/month to keep the air clean and the furnace running without blowing dust. There are 2 types- inexpensive ones $1-$2 each, or high-filtration ones $4-8 each. Unless your house is very dusty, the inexpensive ones will do just fine. The denser (usually 3M brand) are high-filtration, which may cause the furnace to work harder. To get the best of both, use a high-filtration one for a few months, then use the others for the remainder of the year.

What I do as a good rule of thumb 2 times a year daylight savings time I do the clocks, air filters, smoke detector batteries, drain water heater to prevent rust build up then refill on the gas furnace check on the filters to see if dust accumulates then change as needed

Forced hot air & allergies here.
Filters should have suggested replacement time on labels.
Have found the pleated filters to work better than the real cheapos
They restrict air flow much more when they get dirty so I try to take a look & change out frequently now that furnace is running more for heating.

During the heating season I would recommend 30 days for the inexpensive filters and no more than 90 days for the better ones. Just remember, Filters keep your furnace in better shape and running better. Use cheap filters and dont change them normally results in a service call and that can cost you $70.00 and up.

totally agree. when i was whacked out i left one in for 6 months! no wonder i have the black lung! lol. actually, in a few days i am moving into a house that has a brand new natural gas furnace and that WILL make a huge difference. I really can't wait - it IS the start of my NEW LIFE - and everything that is dragging me from the past will be just that IN THE PAST. that's why i am so glad my gf and i are looking at this the same way. this is the best time of my life and a golden opportunity to get things right - FINALLY

All is quiet on Valentines Day
A woman in white gets underway
I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes because of the past
On Valentines Day

I will be with you again
I will be with you again

Under a blood red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white
Arms entwined, the chosen few
The newspapers says, says
Say it's true it's true...
They made it back with love
They managed to break through
Though torn in two
Back as one

I...I will begin again
I...I will begin again

Oh...
Maybe the time is right
Oh...maybe tonight...

I will be with you again
I will be with you again

And so we're told this is the golden age
And the gatens is the reason for the way we made it back
Though I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes
On Valentines Day

Depends how much you use the furnace. Every three months is a good rule of thumb.
