I am renting and made holes in the wall where I had pictures hanging on the wall. I moved the pictures and now what do I do to fill in the holes?

Get a small tub of spackle and a straight edge (not sure what they're called, but someone at a homedepot or menards store will). Use the tool to dab some spackle in the hole and scrape it to make it smooth. Then just let it dry. It's really simple and everything you need will be under $10.

If you're just renting and you don't want to buy anything, you can always fill small holes (tiny nails or thumbtacks) with white toothpaste. It isn't perfect, but if there are only tiny holes it might just get your deposit back.

Also, call your landlord to see if there is any paint left in the house. It's a smart idea to leave the extra paint in a closet or basement (somewhere it won't freeze), especially if it's a rental. The landlord will probably be glad to tell you where the paint is, if there's any.

If you used an anchor (plastic toggle) you will have to remove it with pliers.
The for approx $3.50 get a container of polyfilla (compound of plaster ready made and any home hardware store) and spread it on (thinly) over the holes using a spreader (spatula or putty knife).

The biggest problem is you will need to paint the plaster (you might be able to get away without having to paint the entire wall.

If you put it on too thick you will need to sand it so be careful

Sm tub of spackel, you can use your finger if you don't have any tools. Fill the hole, use sand paper or nail file very lightly, use a damp cloth and wipe. Paint if needed.

A product called spackle.at a hardware store. It just wipes on with a finger tip. Get one that says lite, it doesn't dry out and you can use it for many picture moves.
