i am replacing the light fixture in my bathroom and have what should be a simple question to answer. there are only 4 wires on the old fixutre (two black and two white) and 5 on the new (2 black 2 white 1 copper/ground). my question is: where do i hook the ground wire to? thanks in advance.

You hook it to the box mount in the cealing which should already be grounded

since you don't have a bare copper wire in electrical box your house must have been built before a safety ground was required by code if the system is not grounded then you don't hook the safety ground wire to anything If the box isn't grounded it would do no good to hook it to the box

If your house is fairly new the wire in the wall ( romex ) there should be a bare copper wire in the romex.. Twist them together and put a wire nut on it..
