What would be the best kind to get? Or at least a good kind, but at a good price?

Bryant or Carrier CO detectors are good ones. Nighthawk also makes a good CO detector. I'd stay away from First Alert, their smoke detectors may work well but their CO detectors suck.

I have seen several in my line of work and I feel that the one that Carrier sells is the best buy and carries the best warranty which is 7 years. The cost is around $70.00 to $80.00. Don't go cheap since this may some day save you or a family members life. You need to have one for each level of your home and they need to be within 15 feet of every bedroom.

One that detects Fire and Carbon Monoxcide. Buy one that is under $100 or more. also get it inspected every few months.
