I am putting in a 4' X 4' X 6" slab to mount a mail box pedestal. I have the base dug out formed and the rebar in place and covered. We have just experienced a major snow storm and cold snap. How much above freezing will it be safe to mix and pour?

I want to replace the elements in my hot water heater. I know that I have to shut off the power at the breaker box, but how can I be confident that I got the right switch (they're unlabeled)? There is no power light or sound that I can detect coming from the heater, so I don't know how I know I have successfully cut the power, so I'm afraid to mess with it! Thanks!

I've hired a handyman in Los Angeles at a price of $50/hour. This seems reasonable to me, as it is less that you'd pay for a plumber.

Does anyone else have experience with a very good handyman in Southern California? How much have you paid?

...my fridge has broken down just after a month. Is this some kind of ploy to get people to spend more money to either replace or repair the dodgy product?

I have an OTT-LITE "daylight" fluorescent lamp and the ballast finally gave out (apparently this happens a lot). I have looked everywhere but I can't find a replacement ballast (model DMBL22). The people at OTT-LITE are not much help. It was a fairly expensive lamp and I hate to get rid of it seeing as I've only had it a few years.

HELP!

and thanks!

The plastic frames on my glasses broke and I glued them together with Krazy Glue. The bond seems pretty strong, but how strong is it really? My glass were pretty expensive and I was hoping to get another year out of them, it is possible, or will they re-break in the future? Anyone have success with this kind of repair?

I like in Oklahoma and we just had quite a winter storm blow in and it's been two days and the apts. people have not cleared any snow or laid down rock salt anywhere. Some spots are very bad. Thanks God I live downstairs. So I have left a message and not heard back. Don't they have to take care of this type of stuff? How has your apartments handled winter weather?

I am worried about dirty vents in our house. Its winter and we are using the central heating. I want to ensure that the air that is coming out of those vents are clean but don't know the right people to call to do this...also...to clean the attic where the main heater is located.
