A really good plunger will usually do it. The kind with a "snout" coming out of the bottom that fits into the hole works best. You need water in the toilet bowl to do this best, as much as it will hold without overflowing while you plunge.
You want to fill the plunger with water by pushing it down to expell the air from it, then plunge up and down with fairly short strokes. What you are doing is pulling the plug back and forth in the toilet trap. You will get resistance in both directions if you do this right. If you do it right, there is no splashing or great force needed.
Chances are, it is stuck in the toilet trap, not down below because the pipes always get bigger, not smaller, the further away from the toilet you get.

Plunging is an art that should be taught in high school, as a key to a happy life. LOL!

Snakes are hard to get down the toilet drain, try turning the snake as you push it in to get it over the trap in the back. If you can't get it down there, you will have to call a plumber or roto rooter to do it, or pull the toilet to access the drain pipe. Many times, paper clogs will slowly disolve and allow you to clear it after it has set for a while. After setting, you can sometimes pop it loose with a plunger.
And I guess you learned your lesson about throwing things down the toilet.

Get a bigger snake, you can rent them at home depot. You might have to remove the toilet to get better access to the drain. While you're at it, maybe it's time to get a new one? less water per flush... many cities have a rebate for newer toliet that are moe water-efficient.

And by the way... some wipes actually are flushable - the new kando wipes.

Pretty Good chance you will have to remove the thing from the floor and toget to it . The plug is probably in the pipe below the floor. Not a real big deal, unless you've never done it before. Lots of things CAN go wrong if your not carefull. Better 'Smarten Up' first, or dial the plumber. Good Luck!!!

remove by hand/with a cup of course the extra water in the toilet. that is number one -- then boil very hot hot water -- and put in it...ice salt, vinegar and pour it into the same toilet...and try again with the plunger first. make sure the plunge adheres to all sides of the toilet while you pump. give that job to hubby/boyfriend better.
do that for 10 times.without letting.
it will work. i will know if you give me best answer. good luck -- thereafter you can have a nice coffee...and remember to put a basket near the toilet ...that is for the paper stuff you do not want to go
inside the toilet...voila.....hope it helps. it will.

Use a plunger. It will actually force water down the pipes causing the wipes to go with it.

Save yourself a lot of time, work and grief, call Roto Rooter. They will clear the blockage and guarantee their work for a year.. Next time, don't flush them down the toilet.
