not the kitchen sink. unclog it with draino foaming plumber, works perfectly for a few weeks on the tub, longer on other stuff.. then it clogs again. why? our house is almost new and plumbing done by lisc. professionals. only two adults occupy home, 1 baby.

A dishonest airconditioner repairman tried to sell me a $425 thermostat this morning (besides the $95 service fee) stating this problem as the reason why my a/c won't cool. He said that this was the problem because everything else including the refrigerant (Freon) is fine...

BTW, I told him to leave and start another career that does not involve scamming people.

Just moved into a house with central AC, York Model E1FB024S06A. Turned on thermostat and got nothing. Checked circuit breaker, looks fine. There is a unit on the wall of the house next to the compressor unit (I guess that is what it is called) with a sort of switch that you pull out and turn upright or upside down and plug back in to turn it on or off, it is set to on. Is there a switch somewhere on the compressor unit outside or the other part of the unit that is laying on the drip pan which is in the attic. I know absolutely nothing about AC units so I apologize if I do not know what the parts are called but before I call a repairman, I would like to find out if it is something as simple as a power switch that I am not seeing. The house was empty for about 2 years and they may have somehow turned it off when they winterized the house. I appreciate anyone's help on this.

What does it cost, and what maintenance is involved in an above ground swiiming pool? I'm guessing about a 24 ft pool.

We have been evacuated from our home due to the electrical damage and the fact that the ceiling in our bedroom collapsed onto the floor. Thanks for the info!

Whenever I check an electric motor's statistics, I NEVER see anything regarding torque. I see hp, rpm, watts, shaft size, but NO TORQUE. Can someone please tell me what torque is and how it relates (if it relates) to the motor's strength and ability.

the shingles are fine but that side of the garage the plywood is rotted about 4 inches up. there are no gutters on this garage never has been. can i replace the wood and renail that row of shinges to it or is there another cheap alternative to repair it? i can put my hand under the first fow of shingles(of course where the wood is rotted the nails are no longer holding). on the other side there is a cover over the plywood so that side is fine.

I hate to buy a new hose and cut it down. Just was wondering if they make them especially for that purpose.

We just installed really nice (expensive) carpet. Due to a malfunction in our sprinkler system some water came into our newly finished basement and got the carpet wet.

This all happened while we were out of town. We we got home we noticed the wet carpet and a mildewy smell.

We pulled the carpet up in that area to dry out the pad beneath, and have a fan blowing on the carpet but I have a feeling that smell is going to remain.

Any advice from someone who has been here before?

I am having issues with the toilet in the upstairs bathroom. I tried Draino to clear the pipes but it didn't really resolve it. The water does not empty out completely and some of the floaties & toilet paper remains. I have to flush a few times to get everything all cleared out. Anyone have any quick fixes?

My eureka bagless is only a year old. It sounds like anything electronic .....but at max speed times 10. it is so loud i cant stand to even turn it on. I just changed the belt thinking that would fix it. Nope. So could something be lodged in the motor to make it not operate like it should? like something is spinning at max power, but the rest of the machine is sitting still.

The courtyard of an apartment building I own has lots of old chewing gum blobs stuck to the concrete. It looks awful. Now that the landscaping and paint is complete, the gum stains are all I see when I look at the concrete. I have been looking online for companies who clean gum from concrete, and I came upon a company called Revorvrx based in Agoura, but I can't find any listing for this company....only an article about small businesses that describes what they do. They use a European machine called GumBusters, I think, which has low water usage, a contained non-hazardous solvent, and heat to dissolve the gum. They can rent the machine, sell the machine, or come remove gum for property owners. Does anyone know how I can find this company or one like it in the Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area? Or is there anyone who has experience with removing gum from concrete that could tell me how to do it myself? I do not want to do high pressure power washing.
