I understand that incandescent light bulbs have fluorescent equivalents. A 60W incandescent can be replaced by a fluorescent one around 13-15W. My questions is: Since you're using less than the maximum watts, can you use a 20W (and so on up) fluorescent bulb to replace the 60W incandescent one?

Or is the new fluorescent one (up to 15W) all I can replace it with?

Thx

i have one, but it's 5500 btu. whatever that means. lol

and my house is set up so its all open with very high ceilings. (like a garage, only higher) and my kitchen and bathroom/living room is all sort of open..

now.. the air conditioner i have right now only cools off maybe a 6x7 space. thats like a damn cubicle. and all my windows are closed.. but i dont know how old it is and i changed the filter in it, and its still not working well..

and yes, i have a ceiling fan it doesnt help

can someone tell me if a bigger one like 8 or 10,000 would work better coz my walls arent insulated and i dont know if getting a bigger one would help if the heats going to come in anyway.

the dimensions of my whole house (excluding mark's room and the loft) are 35 ft x 25ft

should i just get another small one and have 2 running - i need to get the most energy efficient one there

I usually keep it on all day, and I turned it off for a second, and now it doesn't blow any cold air. Is it broken?

It looks a little forbidding and I heard they are dangerous to change because they can burn you.

liquid plummer, all kinds of heavy duty pipe chemicals, and we've even replaced the entire pipe under the sink. The smell is still there. What could it be and how do I get rid of it?

Here's the problem ... Our central heating pump is on its last legs (having problems pushing the water around the house). We’ve found a replacement pump at www.plumbworld.co.uk/348-195 but the controls are on the left side, which gives us a problem because they need to be on the right-side to allow the boiler lid to be put back on again (otherwise they'd stick out too far). Darling hubby thinks I’m mad to ask this question but - if we bought this pump, could it be installed up-side-down (so that the controls were on the right hand side). Doing this would allow the boiler lid to be put back on but would also mean that the water entering the pump would do so where it would have exited, and vice-versa (e.g. in flow becomes the outflow; out-flow becomes the in flow). Hubby thinks I’ll blow us :)

I know rain is somewhat a mixed blessing: rain is BAD in that it delays a contractor from working, yet it is GOOD because it wears on the roof making an otherwise good roof in need of repairs/replacement sooner (lengthens, yet increases, backlog).

In terms of heat (not so much extreme heat, but just hot weather): Is it good, bad, or mixed (as it is with rain).

Thanks in advance - I'm trying to better understand the moving parts of the industry... Please explain, and source for the "Best Answer"

Here's the situation: every now and then, generally in the middle of the day, the breaker that handles the air conditioning condenser will automatically flick off. I go outside, and I'll see that the breaker switch is orange. I flick it back on, and the AC condenser will instantly kick right back on. The air will run fine, and then, oh, once a week this will happen again, generally middle of the day.

Anyhow, an electrician checked this out, and he determined that the breaker for the AC needed to be replaced. He took out the old one (which was RED HOT) and put in a new one. The problem was resolved for a month.

Then, just today, this new breaker shut off again. I flipped the switch, and the AC kicked right back on again/ Any idea what is going on here?

(I'm looking at the old black breaker now, that was replaced, and it says "interrupting rating 10,000 amps max rms sym 40 C", if that helps.)

Thanks.

A few years ago, my house was hit by lightning. Everything was fixed or replaced. Now when its 90 outside I get a loud buzz in the stereo. I have seperate lines running to 2 out of 3 amps everything is run through a power conditioner which shows volts. When it gets hot outside (cool inside) my voltage goes down to 100 or so and it starts buzzing.
I really don't think this is a stereo issue or it would be there all year, not just when its 90 outside. We found 1 bad wire in our septic system but replacing it did not cure problem.
Only things outside are central air unit, sat.dish, and septic
when its about 100 or more outside, the buzz is constant 90's its intermitant
any ideas on where to start???

I am planning to use Feviquick from fevicol, but it seems that it will not be able to hold the sole for a long time. I use the shoe in rainy conditions where in the sole remains wet most of the time.
