I have a farm ranch style house in Suffolk county NY, and I'm considering installing a CAC system. The unit is a Ruud (similar to Reem) 13 SEER on one zone... my questions are: If you have this unit, are you happy with it? How much are your electric bills each month? Is it really cost effective to have CAC vs. in wall units? I had asked the installer (a friend) if I could have two zones... as I'm renting the upstairs to a tenant, and don't need to cool the upstairs during work hours... he said it's best just to have one zone, and that I really wouldn't be wasting money cooling all of it vs. some rooms at a time. Any advice would be appreciated.
Forgot to mention... I don't plan on staying in this house more than 6-7 years... and am worried that the cost of installing it wouldn't be worth it. I'm getting it pretty cheap ($6500), but could probably buy 4 in wall units and run them 24/7 for the next 7 years and still not hit the $6500 mark. Any advice??
I should add that the price includes running ducts for all the rooms. The house has no duct work as of yet.

hot water comes out a little rusty at first, and slow running. Cold water is fine. No pressure on hot water pipes. is there any easy fix besides replacing plumbing?

After two wipes we have to flush (it has nothing to do with the amount of paper used) or else the toilet will clog. I've had a plumber here and he used a snake, but there's no change.

Any other suggestions?

I have an old fridge and an even older stove. They are sitting near eachother kind of like an "L" but there is a 12 to 14 inch space between the two. Anyway. If you touch the fridge AND the stove at the same time you get the piss shocked out of you. And it's a massive current because it even made me scream "oww" and my arm went numb for hours. Well my almost 2 year old just touched the two at the same time and shocked herself pretty good. I'm getting tired of this. My kitchen is VERY small so there is no way I can move the two so they are in different areas. My questions are why is it doing this and what can I do to fix it?

The windows were removed when we replaced the shingles around them and in the process the windows got scratched. I was thinking something like auto glass companies use to get chips out of the windshields.

Personally I'd just use it to knock a nail in or something.

They are the absolute pitts. Pet peeves:they insist on leaving a message on your home phone and contacting you there when you tell them you cell phone number & work number and emphasize that you work. Usually one is bounced back to the operator 3 times when calling the store. Even when one is in store.. no clerks available to help.. What bliss it would be to have Hechingers back! or any other stroe to give them some competition.. guess they feel secure in having a monopoly in Annapolis.. but I am ready to go the extra miles to Lowe's. Not sure what happened but morale of workers is not good and it affects the customer.

I put the cycle on 2 times and clothes are still damp.
Put in another load this morning and after a while opened the door to see if it was getting hot and it was barely warm. Hoping it's not a super expensive fix. UGH.

My central air outside unit is full of dust on the fins. I've gotten off the big dust bunnies with a brush but it's probably still quite filthy. Is it OK to hose it off or how else should I clean it?

Also I had been thinking of buying a fin comb to straighten the fins where they're bent, but then I noticed that the fins are not straight; they're wavy. Still possible to fix the bashed together fins?
