Assuming that you are talking about a kitchen or bathroom fixture, the lower-most (nozzle) portion of the faucet screws off. Behind that is a screen filter which can become partially clogged with calcium build-up, particularly if the water is hard. This can cause a spray at the faucet head. Remove the nozzle with some pliers, being careful not to scratch or damage the chrome (if any). You may want to put a rag over the teeth of the pliers. Check it out. It may solve your problem.

It's probably the screen filter. What's that ? At the end of the spigot ( that's where the water comes out ) it should look like there is a line about 1/2 inch from the edge. It's actually the edge of the screen filter and it can be twisted off. You will probably need a wrench to do this as they can get a bit rusted and stuck. Once off, you might want to take that down to the local hardware store to buy a replacement. It shouldn't be more than $ 3.

Your faucet is probably missing the spray regulator, you can get it at any hardware store.
