its a door knob not a dead bolt and if I can get pictures I would apprectiated

Easiest way to have a lock re-keyed is to take it to a hradware store. They have the tools and pins to accomplish this task, plus they can make you a key when they're done.

Cindi - in order to re-key the lock, you must have a lock re-keying kit. I think you are talking about a "Kwikset" lock? If you can take this lock off of the door by unscrewing the two screws that hold it in, and take it to your local lumberyard (real lumberyard, not Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) they can likely re-key it for you at a minimal charge. It's not difficult to do, but the kit is rather expensive ($100 or so)
