I AM A WELL DRILLER AND PUMP INSTALLER. A PRESSURE TANK IS NECESSARY. UNLESS YOU WANT TO BURN UP YOUR PUMP. NEED MORE INFO FOR YOUR QUESTION. WHAT ARE YOU USING THE WATER FOR????

Firstly - "is it necessary"...?
Depends what you do with the water. If you want to use it for a shower, then you need a pump in any case, otherwise you need to build a 30 feet high water tower for your storage tank in order to get decent pressure.
Otherwise, if the tank is located higher than your whatever-you-use-it-for, then use gravity instead of the pump.

To connect the pump also depends what you do with the water. How will the pump know when to pump? Do you need a pressure switch or a float switch?

Electrical: Make sure you use the green ground wire, and connect the pump to a Ground Fault Switch.
