My toilets clog too easily, why?

Question

After two wipes we have to flush (it has nothing to do with the amount of paper used) or else the toilet will clog. I've had a plumber here and he used a snake, but there's no change.

Any other suggestions?

The tank is full, I tried that already.

Here is a step-by-step from eHow, with links to other sites/ads that may help. Since you've tried the snake, you may want to check your roof vent pipe. We've had this problem with my mom where the vent was clogging (like putting your finger over the hole at the top of a straw). The second site mentions it:

The vent pipe can become clogged with the bodies of small animals or birds; birds build their nests on and in these pipes, and debris can collect around the connections to the fixtures that drain into the pipe. A clogged vent pipe creates a retarded flow that is often the cause of illusive flushing problems. Some of the symptoms of a clogged vent line are such things as gurgling sounds in bathroom fixtures when other fixtures are draining, a lazy flushing toilet, or a toilet that appears to be stopped up, but doesn't respond to plunging or the use of a snake. Hmm. Not really pressure. But...

It could be that the pipe to your main drain is convoluted.

It could be that your toilet isn't using enough water. Check the level of the tank to see if the tank is filling up before you flush. Half full won't do as good a job.

It could be that the run to the street sewers from your basement is especially shallow. Almost nothing you can do about this.

If you have an older home, the drain pipes are smaller than newer homes. They started making the drains bigger for a reason. This would be expensive to fix (you would have to have your basement floor torn up and the pipes replaced).

It could be anything from a clogged vent pipe, calcium build up in the pipe catching the toilet paper, a tree root it the sewer drain,or maybe you just need to buy a better toilet with a bigger tank capacity. But I would check out your ventilation first.

Low Flow Toilets!! These were put in to conserve water. Supposedly its illegal to have the old fashioned kind that you only had to flush once and hardly ever clogged.

I have this problem everywhere I live. So I think maybe these toilet installers and pipe installers need to take a lesson from some of the older ones that have some experience in toilets.

I have also found that if you use Super Absorbant toilet paper, that can cause clogs as well.

Sounds like there is something in the trap that is catching things as they pass through.. I can only guess what it might be however Kebab sticks is a common one, knitting needles is another.. Then other things get stuck on these things and so it goes on..
