They are the absolute pitts. Pet peeves:they insist on leaving a message on your home phone and contacting you there when you tell them you cell phone number & work number and emphasize that you work. Usually one is bounced back to the operator 3 times when calling the store. Even when one is in store.. no clerks available to help.. What bliss it would be to have Hechingers back! or any other stroe to give them some competition.. guess they feel secure in having a monopoly in Annapolis.. but I am ready to go the extra miles to Lowe's. Not sure what happened but morale of workers is not good and it affects the customer.

That is exactly why I was so thrilled they opened up a Lowes in my area! As an interior designer, I am often waiting at a client's house for theit estimate and then watching the work done. Depot never shows up on time, leaves a mess in my client's home, don't give the correct answers to questions and in general WASTE my time!

Lowes calls me when they are on the way, have never been late, take care of the customer's home and property as if it were their own, never leave a mess, have decent customer service and make things right when they go wrong!

You can also try Sears which replaces windows and doors, independent dealers for Pella, Anderson and Marvin windows and doors.

Call an independent contractor. For the most part, that's what Home Depot and Lowes do. You end up paying twice as much, because the store gets their cut. You may end up getting the same person who would do it anyway.

Windows - Pella, Renewal by Andersen, Wasco and any other window dealer in your area. Check your phone book yellow pages under Windows - Installation and Sales.

Look under Doors in the yellow pages for places that handle doors and door replacement.

Check with local independent builder/contractors.
Check your local classifieds for handyman services.
Advertise on craigslist dot com or check out the services there.
Ask around the neighborhood, perhaps one of your neighbors does that kind of work.
