an expoxy resin is the best. whether you have a plastic, fiberglass or older metal tub. You can pick it up at any hardware store or even at wal-mart.
For best results, make sure the surface is clean. If it is a larde hole, try to tuck some cloth screening in it. This will give you a stronger adhiesive bond. To ensure a smooth finish surface, use a 220 wet dry grit sand paper, followed up by 0000 steel wool. This will insure a sommth surface. Hope this helps.

Is it the drain? If it is really a hole, what the heck was dropped to create it?
Ok, is your tub fiberglass or cast iron? Does it have an enamel or porcelain veneer? If the hole is only the latter, you can buy filler paste and this will do a fairly good job of covering and sealing the hole. If it truly goes all the way thru, replace the tub. The amount of grief you could have is well-worth the replacement, especially if you have a fiberglass tub.

Depending on the hole you might try epoxy putty. Goes in like clay, but hardens and is waterproof. Home Depot has it.

Go to Home Depot Or Lowes, they have repair kits for about twenty dollars. Follow the directions closely and it shouldn't be that hard.
