Cheap and it works, buy some 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap put the dry soap in one of the cheap ketchup squirt bottles that you can purchase at any dollar store and apply it around baseboards, cabinets anywhere you see the ants, they will carry it back to their nest and it WILL kill them. Leave the Borax lay on the floor until you no longer see any signs of the ants and vacuum up the excess soap and do your laundry with the remainder of the box. I have used this trick for years and my grandmother also used it....and for less than five bucks you can get rid of the pest.

boric acid powder mixed with a little powdered sugar did the job for me. There were hundreds of little dead ants all over the floor within two days...and they didn't come back after I cleaned the acid powder up.
look for anhydrous boric acid

Pouring clorox or any strong lysol usually does the job. Better yet, pour baygon liquid where the nest it. If you can't find the nest, then follow the trail. Common household pesticides can help.

Mix powdered/icing sugar with borax, put in small lids, like from pop bottles or plastic containers, and put around. They are attracted to the sweetness, carry the mix back to from where they came and they die. Aw...

Pour boiling hot water into their nest, the water will both scold them to death and drown them, or find some ant powder!
