I would feel pretty good if I could keep these 2 week old sprouts turn into mature plants, but I fear my indoor conditions won't do it for them.

I also fear putting them outside would kill them, since we have already experienced frosty mornings. Would it survive in a protected area?

I dont have a green house or anything fancy, but would love to hear some of your crazy ideas on this.

I have some more seeds for spring, so I am willing to be chancey with these fall upstarts.

Thoughts, comments, rude noises?

Am I adding peat to allow for better drainage, so it cuts the super water retentive capacity of clay?

Is it doing anything else in the meantime?

When I plant something new, I take all of the old soil, add twice as much peat, and a little bit of manure. I add lime if I am told the plant likes it.

I guess it's kind of like an art, like mixing mortar for brick laying.

I dig a whole as wide as I can, and try for twice as deep as the root of the new plant. I fill in with the ammended dirt, as much as needed so the stems of the plant are level with with the ground.

I never "mound' the plant with dirt. I study the slope of the existing soil and I think about where the water will flow for the roots. With that in mind, I place the root ball where I would like to see new growth.

Also, if I know in advance a plant needs great drainage, I fill the bottom of its hole with pea gravel.

Am I over doing anything, Underdoing something? Your comments are always appreciated.

He has worked in the garden trade for 3 seasons and has picked up alot of stuff, he is actually an illustrator but as we all know once you graduate you can never get a bloddy job.
So anyway he has done a few garden plans with him being artistic for a few companies but never got much feed back and always get's laid off once the winter comes.
He is enjoying the before and after of tranforming gardens and is even enjoying the hard work... he doe's not like being under paid and people taking advantage of him and so has applied for jobs with better propsects.
We are at the stage now were we want to move out but he earns less than me and so we struggle.
He has been with this firm all summer and they have not offered him a full time contract or gave him a pay rise yet he puts in the hard work
Could you help?
He would be interested in doing a course as a trainee landscaper or something along those lines, he is 25 a hard worker and lives in the north east any info would be fab x

She says that her hibiscus plant will grow better in the dark like in a basement.

I say that it will grow much better if you cover it with W2 forms.

Who is correct?

It grows right next to the ground, starts out like a rock shape, about the size of an apple, then when it blooms, it looks like....of all things....dog feces. Not just any dog feces, but a small pile, that someone took their fist, and smashed it. I know this sounds crazy, but I believe this to be some kind of fungus. I wouldn't be asking this, except I've seen four or five of these in my backyard,.... before, and after they've "bloomed". It starts out a light brown color, and when it opens up, it's a lovely brown.....just like dog doo-doo. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY THIS?

I have a small white rose bush. It blooms only occassionally and has very few leaves. I remember something from my childhood about putting pickle juice on roses. Is this true or am I crazy?
