The common name "bottlebrush" usually refers to Australian native plants of the Callistemon genus, although this common name may also be applied to the Melaleuca genus. The flower of the two genera look the same, but the arrangement of seed capsules along the stem differs between the two, enabling correct identification - Callistemon being densely clustered and embedded in the branches, while Melaleuca capsules are irregularly clustered along the branches. Melaleuca species are also known by the common name "paperbark".

Callistemon is the genus. The species is Callistemon citrinus. If you are talking about another "common" name, I've never heard of one.
