So we bought the heated floor system at the Home Depot..the one where you roll it out..its like a matt and comes with a thermostat. While looking at it, this guy was standing beside me and said are you buying that. I told him I was thinking about it for under our floor tiles in the kitchen. He said his bill went up by $150 per month and he only has abit in his bathroom which is on for 1 hr each morning! He also showed me the box says it uses as much energy as a lightbulb or 2 and he says maybe this is false advertising because it made his bill go up so high. I asked a worker after at the store and they said there is no way that could have happened. What do you think? Do you know anyone that had or has this? I bought it anyways and am abit nervouse..I only bought the 8 foot one..just one box..Will It make my bill go skyhigh?

currently in the process of having wooden (pine?) board & batten shutters built for home. want to get the distressed look when painting the shutters black or slate. I heard there is a distress ink that can be applied to the shutters. Has anyone done this before, or know how to paint the shutters with a distressed look? Thank you.

Ok I am purchasing a home that has a huge kitchen/livingroom/breakfast eat in area all in one. It is about 45 ft by 20 ft. Any ways... the kitchen area has white cabinets but we are going to reaplce those with a spicy maple cabinets. The floor in the kitchen and dining area is dark oak. The living room has carpeting that is maroon (I don't like it much). Right now it is all light tan. It looks very cold. I would really like to warm the whole area up. I really like red walls and the right shade would match the carpet. I am just afraid all red would look too red. I decorate primitive so I really do not like anything too modern. Ok now it is up to you!! THanks!!

what is the pattern that people used in the civil war times...like the kind of silk wallpaper they would use in their homes. Like the wallpaper in the movie "the skeleton key".. the weeping willow patterns. I want to know some kind of pattern they used during that time.
