My brother built a platform bed for his wife, she is only 4' 11" and she loves it. There is plenty of storage space under the bed. He put shelves up to the ceiling as the headboard. And built her a stairs that reminds me of the stairway to heaven. They love their bed. She has no problem getting in or out.

VERY Easy.Not to mention you can build it to any height you wish, and you don't need a boxspring underneath! I've built 3 myself all queen size. The last one I even put drawers in under the platform for under-bed storage..Worked GREAT! Simple to build too!

Agree with JD, easy in, easy out. Highly recommend having drawers in pedestal. storage space, instead of wasted space.
