Does anyone know of a website where you can choose different brick colors to see what it will actually look like on a home? I am building a new home and was wanting to see different brick options. Thanks!

I am thinking of buying another house and the washer and dryer are in the basement. I would like to put these appliances on the second floor in my bedroom. I have plenty of room in my bedroom to place it. There is a bathroom next to this bedroom so I am wondering about how much it would cost me to do this. Thanks in advance for your answers

My sliding door has vertical blinds, but the problem is that there is a gap between the sides. So, on one side people can see inside my kitchen (especially at night). It's really annoying, and I was wondering if there is a way to put some panel there to block people from seeing inside my apartment.

I have a townhouse size livingroom. It is in a large rectangle shape. The entire room is painted with a strong yellow.. a little darker than Big Bird. We have hard wood floors that are a medium-light wood color and dark brown leather furniture, tables and mica lamps. Which wall should have the accent color? The entertainment system is along one of the shorter walls and the other shorter wall has a big bay window. The two larger walls are pretty much exposed and contain large cut-out doorways.

How much will it pay off to do some of the work on our home when building. We are thinking of doing our own painting and trim work, etc (we're very capable, have flipped many homes). The flip side is that we are sick to death of doing these things and wonder if it is worth letting our contractor do them.

I'm fixing up our children's bathroom (also the main bathroom in the house) so that we can sell our house. The vanity top DESPERATELY needs to be replaced. Currently, there is a 55" counter with double bowls in there. There is only about 8 inches of space between the bowls, and it is hard to find places to store towels in there because the space is so small. There is no hallway closet or anywhere to store towels for this bathroom other than under the sinks. Also, the bathroom is too small to put a storage tower. If I were to stay in the house, I'd replace it with a single bowl so I'd have more surface space in there. Since I plan on selling it though, I have to make the choice that would appeal most to buyers. Do you think most buyers would prefer a second sink or extra surface area?

I just bought a house that has an old deck that has fallen into disrepair. I need to plan to work on it this fall or next spring to have something ready for prime grilling season next year and wondering if I should build a deck or patio if I am considering longterm (5-10 years out) to put in a screened in porch.

I'm about to have a baby any day now and don't want to mess with trying to scape it off and everything. It's an old house and there would probably be a lot of repair work needed.

I want to paint the ceilings throughout the house silver (shiny not flat grey) except the living room where there is an orange, yellow and blue sunset mural, but think it will look funky with the bumps on ceiling. Could I mix it with another color or glaze over it? The kitchen is bright orange and the rest of the house is painted either medium/dark grey or blue and I have silver accents throughout house. All the trimwork is dark walnut wood stain.

I am redoing my bathroom floor and in some places the wood is rotten, I am wanting to replace the floor with vinyl floor tiles. Is there something I can put in place of the rotten instead of replacing the entire floor that the tiles will stick to?

We just moved into a new house. In the formal dining area we have room for a table that fits 6 chairs with enough room around. We could add another leaf to the table to extend it to fit 8 chairs. Should we buy 6 or 8 chairs?

I used to have a fairly large bedroom but had to move out due to the fact that it needs to be shared and im much older than my siblings. I would like to find a place(or make one) where me and my friends can hangout and design it! (like a basement or tree house) but the problem is none of us have trees at our houses AND where i live no one has a basement. :/
Do you know any other places where we can call our own?
Or do you have a compromise(secret places ect)
Thanks!

Hi guys we are looking at buying a property with an older house on it, that is too small to have a small family in. Right now it is just us, but in the future we want kids.

We have about 60k to spend, but ideally we would be spending closer to 40k.

Generally speaking of course, what is the most economic solution? Our thought is to either live in the small house while another is being built OR until our prefab is ready, or to renovate the older home and add about 300-400 square feet onto it. My fiance has worked in construction, and is very good with do it yourself stuff, so I think we could definitely save some money doing basic things concerning the reno. I'm assuming the reno would be cheap, but as I'm new to this, no idea what we could safely budget. We would NOT be moving any plumbing, if we add on and redo the kitchen it will be to extend counter space.

Thanks a bunch for any advice.

I am building a 3000 squre footage house in a subdivision in CT. The framing was just completed. The work on the roof will be started this week, and the window will be put this Friday. The kitchen cabinet is ordered and will be delivered in the middle of Sept. I was told by the builder that the house would be completed by the end of September. Is this timeline reasonable?
