My sliding door has vertical blinds, but the problem is that there is a gap between the sides. So, on one side people can see inside my kitchen (especially at night). It's really annoying, and I was wondering if there is a way to put some panel there to block people from seeing inside my apartment.

You could hang a window treatment up....use a scarf to hang across the top (it needs to be very long or use 2 or 3). Let them hang down the side (on each side) to keep people from looking in.
All you need is a very long piece of fabric, a curtain rod (a pretty one if possible and some straight pins. Find the middle of the fabric and hang it in the middle of the curtain rod. Start pinning it over the rod; make it look draped (but you will have to use pins so it will stay. It is hard to explain, but easy to do.
Good Luck

Easiest is to hang drapes just on the side of the window. It's fashionable right now too. You only need one panel per side and short curtain rod above. The drapes never move, they just hang there stuffing that opening.

Another thought is to build a three sided box around your window that extends only the few inches needed to block that opening.

Third option is if you don't go open the window or door......hang semi sheer curtains over your verticals. They do cut down on the light overall, but also provide a bit more privacy. Make sure they hang beyond your verticals and have the proper drop-back.......the amount that makes the 90 degree turn back to the wall.

Go ahead and make more holes in the walls by adding a modern curtain rod over the top of the verticals. You can hang long drapes over them or just do a valance at the top to warm things up a bit. When you move out just do a little spackle over the holes and sand. No one will know the difference. I've done this many times.

Put up a swag type curtain. I don't know exactly what they're called but they go straight across the top and only come down on the edges? Get one that is a dark color and a thicker type pf fabric.
