I have a cupboard in my porch which is painted white just now. I am planning to do the room up and wanted the cupboard to be a nice wooden colour. Can I varnish over paint or is there a paint out there that would make it look like it had been varnished i.e. a nice brown colour?

I need to buy a loveseat and I have two choices, one from Target and one from Ashley furniture... They are both the same price but I don't know which one will be better. I went to the store to see the one in Ashley Furniture and is nice but I don't have any idea about how comfortable can be the furniture from Target. The reason because I am thinking about Target is because that loveseat have the perfect measure for my small living room. Help me please!

I can find the standard poles in places like next but they are not long enough, I have also found one with cars at the ends but the pole is blue and I was hoping for silver. Ideally I need to find finials sold seperately and then simply buy an extendable pole to put them on. Please help!

We are widening our countertops and there is a window that hangs approximately three inches below the counter. Instead of lifting the entire window up, estimated cost $500/$800, can we just raise the height of the windowsill?

I am very color-challenged and need lots of help with coming up with a color for my kitchen. It's not been updated since the 1970s. All of the cabinets are a white laminate. The countertop is a while laminate. The stove, microwave, and refrigerator are all white. The floor is cork tiles, which is kind of a honey to medium brown, almost like maple color. The room is fairly small, but bright and sunny. The rest of the house is painted white (for now). We live near the ocean, so I like to go for the beach cottage look. My family tends to prefer blues, greens, and golds, but we're open to suggestion on this one. We're hoping to bring the kitchen into this century, a little at a time, starting with the paint. Any and all suggestions are very much appreciated! Thanks.

some type of metal or alloy; I saw them in a restaurant this weekend and I have looked online high and low. I've looked under pewter, don't think it's the same stuff, this was really light weight, and I've also looked under aluminum? Any ideas what it may be or where I can find it? Preferrable at a restaurant supply as I need a large quantity. Thanks!

The room is an open plan living room 14 ft x 14ft with the wall also leading up to the bedroom. The house is only 15 yrs old and the plaster has chipped off in places. I've been quoted £420 but maybe I could even sort it out myself, if so whats the best way to get a smooth finish for painting?
