I'd go with the Ashley funiture, simply because Ashley is a known furniture maker, and they have a good reputation for quality.
Although Target too has good quality products, sometimes they are hit or miss with it though.

I think you should do a little research before making your decision and purchase. First and foremost, talk to each store about what types of warranties they offer and/or what they will do if any defects occur with the product. Then you may want to go online and see if you can find any reviews or ratings on each type of furniture. I know that you should be able to find some on the Ashley furniture but I'm not so sure about Target. Most people think that the more expensive the better, but being an interior designer I can tell you that that is not always the case. I really wish that you could try out the couch from Target, but if you can't then see if you can at least feel a sample of the material the loveseat is made of. This will at least give you an idea of how it will feel against your skin. Also, check to see if the store could possibly somehow get and set up a display model of the loveseat that you would like to purchase. I'm not sure where you're from but my city has a couple of Target stores. If your city does, then you may want to check to see if another store has a display model of the item. I have to agree with the majority when they say that it's better to try something like a loveseat out before purchasing it. Last but not least, check out the materials that each loveseat is made of. I'm sure you know the good material names vs the bad ones. Don't expect the cheaper furniture to lack though; most of the time the expensive stuff lacks more because you're paying for the name, not the quality. Good luck on your future purchase!!!

Have you gone to a store and tried them out.
I am a vendor and call on Target and love the store, but would not buy upholstered furniture there.
Investigate how it is made and how comfortable it it. Do not invest this much money without trying it out.
I would go Ashley.

OK, I must be from the boon docks, cause I didn't know Target sold furniture.
I think ..., if the couch looks great from Target..., why not buy it.!!
Ashley is a fair furniture company, not real well made.

Go with the Ashley sofa. They design and manufacture their own furniture, so it makes it a lot cheaper when they make a sofa. So, a sofa from Target at the same price is not going to be of the same quality. Also, that sofa is really comfortable. The Bakersfield Ashley store has it.

The furniture from both is probably from out of the country, IE China ,Malaysia etc.
We have purchased Ashley and found out that they do not respond to service calls if there is a defect.
Target stands behind all their products and they do fix any deficiency.

I work security for the wholesale showroom where Ashley has the whole 15th floor here in a 16th story building in Las Vegas. My crew is always impressed with Ashley's warehouse goods. We think Target is cheap. Take a shot at Ashley.

I like the Ashley one. It looks more comfy. Also I bought one like it at Sofa Express a few years ago and it's held up very well.
See what the warranty info is on them and let that be the deciding factor if you can't make up your mind.

Try the Salvation Army or Goodwill Thrift stores. You may have to refinish it but you can get some good buys. You should not have to worry about it looking old or antuiqish, as that can be natural for some of the items. hope this helps falcon
