I haven't found a bathroom light fixture that I like that takes compact fluorescent bulbs. So far I saw a fixture that takes 2 halogen bulbs with a max of 100 watts that I like. If those bulbs take a lot of energy, I will keep looking.

Regarding wood filler, all purpose filler, etc..
Are the powdered variety that you mix yourself generally better than the more expensive ready mixed types that come in tubes?

And what are the best products?

My dad's been raking in the furniture in the house, replacing furniture after furniture. It's fine, but the problem is that he just stores (or in my opinion, dumps) the old furniture either in storage rooms in the house OR in the backyard where it gets rained on and rots. That, or he puts them in either his room or my room for "safe keeping" which in my opinion just procrastination.

The bigger problem now is that he said he's getting new furniture for my small room. I don't need anymore, but I'm eager to get alot of stuff out of my room at the same time and not be stored anywhere in the house like what my dad does. Heck, I'd love it if I can dump it somewhere where it can get encinirated or something. I mean old cabinets, beds, etc.

So are there any places where I can throw these bigger items away? From beds to cabinets to broken fridges, are there any places where I can dispose of them? Is it free? If not, how much will it cost?

i got two mock dog-tags, and i need to make them look old and faded for a photo project. the problem i got is i can't get them to get dull... they're very shinny. i've soaked them in water, to try and rust em, and i've tried soakin 'em in rubbin alcholl, and lighter fluid to try to disolve any coating that they are coated in, but the won't dull down.

any other suggestions?

I just finished painting my room a dark brown color. The problem is, everytime I touch the paint (It's dried by the way), it leaves smudges where my fingers touched. Is it just the color, since it's dark and shows smudges easier? Or could it be the paint? I would hate having to have to repaint my whole entire room, is there some sort of sealer or whatnot I could use? What's wrong and what is it actually called in painting lingo (if there is such a term). Thanks alot!

I am replacing doors in my home but now noticed that the doors and walls in this house were built with 1x4's or 1x6's. So when I buy a standard door, its made for a 2x4 wall. How do you change that to make it more up to date?

I have a floor that needs to be carpeted. It is concrete on bottom with cheap carpet layed over that. I do not think I can pull the old carpet up because it appears to be glued down.
Would laying plywood sheets over the previously carpeted slab, then the padding and carpet work?
